About Us

The Dancing Deer is a third generation family owned business. It originated in 1954 in Apple Valley, CA under the name The Buffalo Trading Post. It was purchased by Danny's grandparents Edward and Beverly in 1971 and was the oldest trading post in California. In 1985 Dave and Connie, Danny's parents, purchased the business and worked with the same artists to ensure the quality and satisfaction of the products they sold. In 1991 they moved the business to South Lake Tahoe and after 11 years they decided to move to Genoa, NV.  We took on a new name, The Dancing Deer, and settled into the quiet quaint beautiful town of Genoa where we call home. In 2016 it was time for Dave and Connie to retire and pass their legacy on.  Danny and  Sara have owned it since then and to this day travel to the Southwest a couple times a year and work directly with same families that his grandparents did so long ago. 

Danny and Sara grew up in the area and attended the same schools, being good friends through their adolescent years.  They reunited a number of years later and fell in love. They now call Genoa home where they raise their four children and three dogs. They enjoy spending time outdoors and exploring the world.  Danny and Sara strive to bring the same level of quality, kindness, and honesty that his parents once did to this small community.
